Like many vessels of the era, the very early Catalina 30's had  a front loading icebox that resembles a small refrigerator. They were a terrible design and were phased out quickly. Most later models came with a more traditional top down icebox that had more room and actual insulation. I'm a coiler, as were my sailing mentors. It's a family tradition. But I have a neighbor who's a stitcher, and deep in my soul, sometimes I'm tempted.
